Ordering, delivery and aftercare

How late can I order?

Order by 2pm the working day before your delivery or collection at the latest, but please order as far in advance as you can to avoid disappointment. On occasion, later ordering may be possible where a date shows as available.

Is my booking for a set time?

No, it's for the day. Deliveries go out as early as possible and run through the day, between 8am and 4pm. Most are completed between 10am and 2pm. Have the ground ready that morning so you can lay as soon as the rolls arrive.

Do I need to be in when the turf arrives?

No. We'll message your mobile and email when your turf is ready for delivery or collection, and again once it's been delivered or collected, although the message may not arrive at the exact moment it's left. Count your rolls once they've been left and before you start laying.

Where will the rolls be left?

We deliver to your property or the closest suitable and accessible point. We'll always leave your turf in the most convenient place we reasonably can, where it's possible and safe. On occasion we may not be able to leave it exactly where you'd prefer. They aren't carried through houses or into back gardens.

Do you deliver to my village?

Use our postcode checker. If your postcode isn't covered, please get in touch, and you can always collect near Newcastle Airport.

Is collection free?

Yes. Collection is free from our collection point near Newcastle Airport, Monday to Friday, by order only.

How much does one roll cover?

About 1 m², so the number of square metres you need is the number of rolls. The order form rounds up to whole rolls.

Why does the price per roll change?

The price per roll falls on bigger orders. The order form puts your order in the right band automatically.

Some rolls have torn edges. Is that a problem?

No. Each roll is lifted and rolled by a harvesting machine, so ragged edges and the odd roll in pieces are normal. They knit together once laid and watered.

How should I prepare the ground?

Clear the old grass and weeds, dig or rotavate, rake out stones, then level and firm it by treading. Rake the surface loose just before laying.

What if I can't lay it all on the day?

Unroll what's left grass side up somewhere shady and water it, then lay it as soon as you can.

Can I cancel?

Orders are final once placed, because the turf is cut and your day is booked. See changes and refunds.
