Northumberland Turf

How much turf do you need?

Add the length and width of each part of your lawn in metres. We'll give you the total in square metres and carry it through to the order form.

Measure your lawn

Measure each rectangle of lawn in metres. For an L-shape or a lawn that wraps round the house, measure it as two or three rectangles.

Fill in the measurements to see how much turf you need.

Measuring awkward shapes

L-shapes and wraparound lawns

Split the lawn into rectangles that don't overlap, measure each one and add a row for it.

Curves and island beds

Measure the full rectangle around the curve, then knock off a rough amount for any bed in the middle. Allow a bit extra so you're not short at the edges.

Slopes

Measure along the ground, not straight across from above, because a slope has more surface than its footprint.

Questions people ask

How much does one roll cover?

About 1 m², so the number of square metres you need is the number of rolls. The order form rounds up to whole rolls.

How much extra should I order?

A little, for trimming round curves, beds and paths. Straight-edged lawns need less than curvy ones.
